Ingredients
- 2 packages (16 hot dogs total)
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
BBQ Rub
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Glaze
- ¾ cup barbecue sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven or smoker to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice each hot dog into 1-inch pieces.
- Place the hot dog pieces in a large bowl and toss with the mustard and melted butter.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne.
- Sprinkle the seasoning over the hot dogs and toss until evenly coated.
- Spread the hot dog pieces in a single layer on a foil-lined baking sheet or in a disposable aluminum pan.
- Bake (or smoke) for 20–25 minutes, stirring halfway through.
- Meanwhile, combine the barbecue sauce, honey, brown sugar, and butter in a small bowl.
- Pour the glaze over the hot dogs and toss to coat.
- Return to the oven or smoker for 15–20 minutes, stirring once, until the sauce is thick, sticky, and caramelized.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
