Here’s a recipe for Crispy Hash Brown Ham and Cheese Sliders—a perfect mash-up of a classic breakfast and a crowd-pleasing slider.
Crispy Hash Brown Ham & Cheese Sliders
Ingredients
-
1 pack (12) Hawaiian sweet rolls (or soft dinner rolls)
-
8-10 slices deli ham (black forest or smoked)
-
6-8 slices Swiss or cheddar cheese
-
8 frozen crispy hash brown patties (the oval, formed kind)
-
3 tbsp butter, melted
-
1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
-
1/2 tsp garlic powder
-
1/2 tsp poppy seeds (optional)
-
Flaky salt, for finishing
Method
1. Cook the Hash Browns
Bake or air-fry the hash brown patties according to package directions until extra crispy and deep golden, a touch longer than stated. They must be robustly crunchy to hold up in the slider. Let them cool slightly and cut each one in half if needed to fit the rolls.
2. Prep the Rolls
Keep the rolls attached as a slab. Slice the whole block in half horizontally. Place the bottom half in a lined baking dish or on a sheet tray.
3. Assemble the Sliders
Layer evenly:
-
Half the cheese on the bottom half of the rolls.
-
Ham, folded to fit nicely.
-
Crispy hash browns in a single, tight layer (trim to fit).
-
Remaining cheese on top.
Place the top half of the rolls over everything.
4. Savory Butter Topping
Stir together the melted butter, Dijon mustard (if using), and garlic powder. Brush this mixture generously over the tops of the rolls. Sprinkle with poppy seeds and a tiny pinch of flaky salt.
5. Bake
Cover loosely with foil and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and bake another 10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and the tops are golden and slightly crisp.
6. Serve
Pull apart along the seams and serve hot. A dollop of honey mustard or a side of spicy ketchup works well.
