Ingredients
For the Filling
- 1 lb (450 g) breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)
- 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ¼ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 green onions, finely sliced
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
For the Ring
- 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet or pizza pan with parchment paper.
- Cook the sausage. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles. Drain any excess grease and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Make the filling. In a large bowl, combine the cooked sausage, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, mozzarella, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, smoked paprika, and parsley. Mix until well combined.
- Arrange the dough. Separate the crescent dough into triangles. Arrange them in a circle on the prepared baking sheet with the wide ends overlapping in the center and the pointed ends facing outward, creating a sunburst pattern.
- Add the filling. Spoon the sausage mixture evenly around the wide ends of the dough, forming a ring.
- Fold and seal. Bring each pointed end up and over the filling, tucking it underneath the inner edge of the dough to form a ring. Some filling may peek through.
- Brush and bake. Brush the dough with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning if desired.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the crescent dough is deep golden brown and fully cooked.
- Cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Optional Variations
- Add cooked, crumbled bacon.
- Mix in diced jalapeños for extra heat.
- Substitute pepper jack cheese for a spicy twist.
- Add sautéed mushrooms or spinach.
- Sprinkle grated Parmesan over the top before baking.

Tips for the Best Crescent Ring
- Let the sausage cool slightly before mixing it with the cream cheese to keep the filling smooth.
- Don’t overfill the ring—this makes it easier to fold and helps prevent leaks during baking.
- Allow the ring to rest for 5 minutes after baking so the filling sets slightly and slices cleanly.
- For extra color and flavor, brush the dough with egg wash before baking for a shiny, golden finish.
