Cheesy Tater Tot Casserole

Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onion until the beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and 1 cup of the cheddar cheese.
- Spread the mixture evenly into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the beef mixture.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese over the top.
- Return to the oven for 5–10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
